MMABay can EXCLUSIVELY reveal that a middleweight bout between Wolfslair MMA Academy star, Michael Bisping and former light heavyweight champion, Vitor Belfort has become a real possibility to headline UFC 120 on October 16th following results in Las Vegas this weekend.

The promotion had been in favour of a fight between the Brit and Japanese superstar, Yoshihiro Akiyama at the event in London, England, but those plans have been scrapped after Chris Leben upset the applecart at UFC 116.

A source close to the situation revealed earlier today that the UFC are now in favour of matching Bisping up with Vitor Belfort, a fighter who hasn’t seen action since he knocked out another former champion, Rich Franklin in September. It was also revealed that verbal agreements have been obtained from at least one fighter.

Bisping was last seen in action in May when he defeated tough-as-nails middleweight, Dan Miller over three rounds at UFC 114.

UFC President, Dana White has revealed if former long-time light heavyweight champion, and close friend, Chuck Liddell wants to fight one more time then he’ll release him from his contract so he can do it outside the confines of the octagon.

Speaking at tonight’s UFC 116 pre-fight press conference, Dana said:

“He’ll never fight in the UFC again. Can Chuck Liddell still make money? Could I make money off of Chuck Liddell? Yes. I don’t want that money. I don’t want to make that kind of money. I’m not interested in that. He won’t do it again. He cannot do it again. It will not happen again.”  read more »

UFC interim heavyweight champion, Shane Carwin has been giving his thoughts on facing Brock Lesnar this weekend at UFC 116 in Las Vegas, Nevada, making the chilling prediction that one of the two men will need help leaving the octagon that night.

When speaking to MMAFighting.com Carwin was asked whether he feels any extra pressure heading into this one and said:

“Really, no pressure at all. It feels like a training camp, just one that has a big fight attached to the end of it. I really do not get nervous or anxious. I have either done the work or not. You have made the sacrifice or you have not. I really enjoy the competition. It is the reward for training so hard.”
